Functionality and beauty often work in tandem—but how?
This collection of pottery aims to explore how pieces used in quotidian life may bring joy to those they surround. The choice to use underglaze transfers (pre-illustrated designs printed on wax paper with paint) on the fish plates and bowls was derived from a desire to create unity in a functional set. The other pieces on the table—the mugs, rounded vase, lemon squeezer, and Ikebana vase—are all here to set a lived scene.

When creating ceramics, the artist's mind and body are physically worked into every piece. I hope this collection can show what joy and purpose our hands are capable of creating, if only given the chance.
